Bangkok Lighting and Urban Design Workshop
Project details
Overview
With the support of local architecture centre in Bangkok, LFB in collaboration with Configuring Light organised a week long workshop aimed at exploring new ways of lighting some of Bangkok’s local destinations.
The workshop welcomed lighting and urban design professionals from across Southeast Asia who were paired with lighting design master’s students from Wismar University in Germany. The international groups worked together to research each space in terms of architecture, landscape and social qualities and design lighting solutions that supported the aspirations of local stakeholders.
The one night lighting interventions drew interest locally, most notably from the Mayor of Bangkok who toured the installations and listened to the groups presentations.
Following the workshop, a night time strategy was commissioned for the area aimed at using sustainable light sources and approaches to minimise light pollution and light spill into the waterways.
