Our work

Research & initiatives

We encourage and promote research, collaboration and expanding the discussions about lighting in public spaces.

With strong links to academic institutions and research groups we are bridging the divide between research and practice.

Merging research and practice

We have built a long-term collaboration with the Configuring Light research group a the London School of Economics. starting in 2012 we have jointly built novel approaches to integrating social research and lighting design, ensuring a synergetic relation between social, spatial and technical expertise.

Our collaborations launched in 2014 with the Social Lightscapes Workshop series: this international programme produced a radically novel approach to lighting design education, inviting professional designers to work on real public spaces to develop social research and community engagement skills, design responses to social findings, and prototype design concepts to present to community stakeholders and policy makers. Social Lightscapes Workshops have been carried out around the world, including Italy, France, Romania, Oman, Thailand and Australia.

This exemplifies our approach that combines methodological innovation, public engagement, collaboration with academic and public sector thinkers and the merging of advanced thinking with practical intervention.

We are always interested in partnerships and collaborations that will help advance our approach.
