Brixton Station Road

Lambeth Council appointed LFB to undertake the first of two phases of lighting upgrades to Brixton Station Road. Phase 1 will include upgrading floodlights along the railway archways with low glare pedestrian scale lanterns which enhance the brickwork and create a more welcoming space.

Lighting to the Recreation Center will be restored to the original colour scheme with additional lighting introduced in order to illuminate the concrete coffered ceiling and enhance the building’s presence after dark.

Prior to design development LFB undertook a series of workshops, nightwalks and consultations with retailers of Brixton Station Road to better understand the issues and needs of the area.

Lighting to shopfronts and the introduction of human scale lighting to the public realm will be undertaken during the second phase of work.
